Today, Tomorrow

Today I love you.
Tomorrow, too.
You showed me a love
I’m still working through.

What is this sensation?
One that haunts me yet delights me,
one that draws me near yet frightens me.
It trembles beneath the shelter of bone,
warmth from a core that sits alone—
a spark of light in the darkest view,
illuminating shadows I never knew.

How do I define my love for you?
To the deepest depths of the earth,
the highest of heights,
the furthest of travels.
When the night reaches its darkest hour,
when the buds of spring bloom their richest flower,
when the earth returns to its form through fire—
through deaths and pain, and lives that expire.

A love stronger than my greatest fear:
that is how I define my love for you, dear.
